Grade 1

The emphasis in first grade is learning to be responsible for oneself and one's actions, learning coping skills and socialization skills, reading, writing, word recognition, and computation skills.

Daily homework assignments are given and explained in the weekly parent newsletter. Homework is related to sight words, spelling words, sentences, math worksheets, grammar and phonics. Homework is daily. Projects are assigned one per quarter. Book reports are assigned bi-weekly starting at the beginning of the third quarter.
