Grade 4
The emphasis in fourth grade is California history, multiplication, division, narrative writing, expository writing, and reading children's novels such as Newberry Medal winning books. Major projects include a California mission project. Field trips focus on California state history.
Homework is to be copied from the board to the student's planner daily. There are at least 26 spelling words per week, math and reading nightly, in addition to assignments for other subjects. Students should expect homework in four subjects every night and spend 40-60 minutes on homework each night.
The teacher suggests the following as possible family activities: visit to Sanchez Adobe, visit to any California Mission, visit to San Mateo History Museum; reading; continuing with online math program.
