Grade 2
The emphasis in second grade is preparation for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
The academic emphasis is on the three basics: Reading, language arts and Math. There is a strong emphasis on phonics and parts of speech in the language arts block. In Math there is an emphasis on addition and subtraction of double and triple digit numbers. Multiplication and division are introduced. The knowledge of Math facts is mandatory and homework averages 30 minutes a night. Reading is nightly as is practicing of Math facts.
