Marine Science Institute field trip was a BLAST!
All stations were hands-on and extremely engaging. The students had to work as a team to release the net and reel the net back in (slack, hold, pull, etc… not familiar with boat terms I hope this is correct haha I learned a lot too!!). We caught leopard sharks, sting rays, Gobi fishes, crabs, clams, sea urchins, trouts, and other small fishes. They were able to physically pick up or touch all of the animals and organisms to help them identify unique adaptations that help the animals survive in the estuary ecosystem!
Other stations included:
- Hydraulic system study
- Zooplankton and phytoplankton study under the microscope
